Each of them meets a licensed clinician by video from a room of their own choosing, which for many people makes the first conversation considerably easier than sitting in an unfamiliar waiting room.
Telehealth also changes what continuity can look like. A client in Covington who takes a new job on a different shift, a graduate student who moves from Richmond to Louisville, and a retired teacher in Danville who no longer drives after dark can all keep the same therapist and the same weekly hour. Because permission to practice follows the state you are physically in, we ask only that you be in Kentucky during the session and that you have a private place to sit.

Dr. Lusk holds the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT™) granted by the PSYPACT® Commission, which authorizes her to provide telepsychology to clients located in Kentucky.
Dr. Lusk is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with more than 25 years of experience, an A.B. from Smith College and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology–San Diego, an APA-accredited program. With Kentucky clients she provides individual, couples, family and group therapy, together with psychological evaluations. She is bilingual in English and Spanish, and the State of Arizona has qualified her as an expert witness.

Kentucky participates in PSYPACT®, an interstate agreement that lets a qualified psychologist licensed in one participating state provide telepsychology to residents of the others. Dr. Lusk holds the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology, known as APIT™, issued by the PSYPACT® Commission. Current participation and the official register of authorized psychologists are published at psypact.gov, which is the record we rely on rather than any summary of our own.
Authorization is tied to where you are sitting, not to where you keep a mailing address. If you are in Kentucky when the session begins, the agreement applies; if you are traveling in a state that does not participate, we reschedule or make a different arrangement before you go. Tell us in advance when your location is going to change, and please expect a short question at the start of each visit about where you are joining from.

Undergraduates, graduate students and faculty make up a steady part of our Kentucky caseload, and video sessions continue through breaks and summer placements. Yes, where the psychologist holds the appropriate interjurisdictional authority and the state takes part in the agreement, as Kentucky does. The arrangement covers appointments you attend while physically inside Kentucky.
That is the situation telehealth answers most directly. Clients in rural counties often tell us the obstacle was never willingness but the drive, the fuel and the hours away from work or a farm. A video appointment removes the travel entirely; what you need is a private room, a reliable connection and a device with a camera. Where connection quality is poor, alternatives can be discussed at intake.
Often, yes. Adolescents frequently speak more freely from their own room than in an office, and video makes it practical for a parent to join for part of an hour and then step out. A parent or guardian takes part in the intake for anyone under eighteen, and we agree at the outset on what will be shared with the family and what stays between the young person and the clinician.
Our rates are sent in a fee agreement when you schedule an appointment. Our office goes over any out-of-network questions with you before the first appointment, so nothing on that subject is unsettled once treatment starts. We accept all major credit and debit cards, and we gladly accept HSA, FSA, and HRA cards so you can use pre-tax dollars toward your care. Our practice generally operates out-of-network. This allows us to protect your privacy, keep care highly personalized, and avoid insurance-mandated session limits.
Our rates are sent in a fee agreement when you schedule an appointment. Please check with your insurance company regarding your out-of-network benefits. As a courtesy, we will submit claims on your behalf upon request, and any reimbursement will be sent directly to the insured.
