Request a Florida appointment

A week in Miami and a week in Tallahassee can look like different states, and our Florida caseload covers the whole spread. We see a student at the University of Florida who cannot get through a fortnight of midterms, a retired couple in St. Petersburg learning what a quieter household asks of them, a parent in Orlando whose teenager has stopped talking, and adults whose nearest specialist is an hour of interstate away. All of them are seen by secure video.

Telehealth also suits people whose year is divided. A good many Florida clients spend part of it somewhere else, and the arrangement holds as long as we know in advance where each session will find you, since authorization attaches to the place you are sitting rather than the house you own. If you will be in Florida at the appointed hour we can meet; if you will not, we need a little time to establish what is possible.

Online Therapy Services in Florida

These are the areas Florida clients most often ask about, and each one is worked through with a plan written for you rather than a sequence applied to everybody.

Depression & Mood Disorders

Low mood is visible in sleep, appetite, and withdrawal long before anyone calls it sadness. Treatment restores the parts of a week that fell away first and tests the conclusions a flat stretch draws about a life.

Anxiety, Stress & Social Phobia

Worry that has begun canceling ordinary plans is met with graded practice, rehearsed in the hour and tried out between visits. The pace is one you can sustain rather than one imposed on you.

Sleep Problems

Nights that no longer restore anybody are often the first complaint we hear. We look at the whole day around the bed: light, caffeine, activity, and the habit of solving tomorrow after midnight.

Child & Adolescent Therapy

Work with a child is built around what that child can actually do in an hour, using drawing, play, or plain conversation as the age allows, while a parent takes part in consent and in setting the goals.

Chronic Pain, Illness & Headaches

Pain and long illness reorganize a life without asking: sleep goes, activity narrows, and relationships take the strain. Psychological care works on that reorganization alongside your medical treatment, never in place of it.

Psychological & Academic Evaluations

An evaluation can clarify attention, learning, or a diagnostic question raised by a school or a referring professional. Dr. Lusk determines in consultation which parts of an assessment are suited to a remote format.

How we work with clients in Florida

Our care is confidential and built to survive the calendar you actually keep. Florida clients regularly live a long distance from the specialist they need, or they maintain two households in a single year, so an inflexible schedule is useless. We readily move your hour when a semester or a season turns. Our work depends on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Instead of just talking, we locate the habits holding a difficulty in place and ask you to test new responses during the week. This evidence-based method is applied with cultural awareness, and we do not offer a quick fix. We review your progress out loud so the work remains transparent and stays focused on your goals.

How telehealth licensing works in Florida

Florida is a participating state in PSYPACT®, and Dr. Lusk holds the credential that agreement issues, the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT™). The Commission issues it, not any individual state, and it is on that footing that a psychologist licensed in Arizona may treat someone located in Florida. The Commission keeps the current list of participating states, and our office checks it before a first appointment rather than relying on memory.

Because the credential attaches to your location, a divided year needs a little planning. A winter household here and a summer one elsewhere, a fortnight with relatives, a term at a campus in another state — each of those changes the question, and each is straightforward to handle when we hear about it in advance. Expect a short question at the start of every visit about where you are joining from. It takes a moment and it keeps the appointment properly authorized.

Participating jurisdictions are published by the compact commissions and can change. You can review current psychology participation at psypact.gov, find the relevant psychology licensing board through the PSYPACT® board directory, or check counseling privileges at CompactConnect. If you are not sure which applies to you, call (844) 774-7997 and we will confirm before you schedule.

Florida communities we serve online

Appointments come in from Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Gainesville, St. Petersburg, and Boca Raton, and from many smaller places in between. For most of the people we see, the barrier was never willingness so much as the distance to a specialist.

Common questions about online therapy in Florida

Who do you see in Florida?

Children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, at every stage from the first years of school to the last decades of a life. People come with anxiety, depression, grief, attention difficulties, chronic illness, and the ordinary strain of a transition that has stopped being manageable. Where a concern lies outside what this practice does, you will hear that at the first conversation rather than later.

I spend winters in Florida and summers elsewhere. Can I keep the same therapist?

Usually, provided each appointment takes place somewhere Dr. Lusk is authorized to work. Send us the calendar before the household moves rather than after, and we will look at the months ahead and tell you which weeks can be kept and which will need another arrangement. Discovering the problem on the morning of a session helps nobody.

Can my child be seen over video?

Yes, with a parent or guardian handling consent and joining the planning. Children frequently take to the format more readily than the adults around them expect, partly because they are talking from their own room. At the outset everyone agrees on what will stay between the young person and the clinician and what is reported home.

Do you work with Florida college students?

We do, at the large public universities and at the smaller private colleges alike. A weekly hour can carry on through a semester and through the breaks, as long as the authorization still covers wherever you are. Students often look outside their own counseling center precisely because the clinician there may also be part of the institution they are describing.

How do I get started?

Telephone (844) 774-7997 or write to info@psychotherapy.com. Our office takes some basic information, talks with you about what you are hoping to change, sends the fee agreement, and puts any out-of-network questions to rest before a first appointment goes in the book, so that none of it is hanging over the opening hour.

Payment and insurance for Florida telehealth

We accept all major credit and debit cards, and we gladly accept HSA, FSA, and HRA cards so you can use pre-tax dollars toward your care. Our practice generally operates out-of-network. This allows us to protect your privacy, keep care highly personalized, and avoid insurance-mandated session limits.

Our rates are sent in a fee agreement when you schedule an appointment. Please check with your insurance company regarding your out-of-network benefits. As a courtesy, we will submit claims on your behalf upon request, and any reimbursement will be sent directly to the insured. Call (844) 774-7997 or email info@psychotherapy.com if you have questions.

Our services are by appointment only, during normal business hours. Evening, weekend, and early morning appointments are sometimes available for established clients.

How to get started in Florida

A first appointment starts with a call to (844) 774-7997, or with an email if that suits you better. We will discuss in confidence what has been happening, establish that Florida is where you will be for your sessions, and put an hour with Dr. Lusk in the book.

If you need urgent help

We do not offer crisis, walk-in, or inpatient services of any type, and this page is not a substitute for emergency care.
