For many people in Colorado, accessing specialized psychological care often involves navigating geography. Whether you want to avoid a punishing commute on I-25 from Fort Collins to Denver, or you live in a mountain community like Durango where local options are scarce, virtual visits offer a practical alternative. You get the same dedicated hour with a licensed clinical psychologist, without losing half your day to travel.

This format also respects the realities of Colorado winters. When a snowstorm closes the passes or makes local roads unpredictable, an in-person treatment plan can easily stall. Online therapy remains remarkably stable. We can maintain a consistent weekly rhythm—which is essential for real progress—whether you are working from a home office in Boulder or waiting out a storm in Steamboat Springs.

Online Therapy Services in Colorado

Our practice frequently addresses the six areas below for clients logging in from Colorado. We focus on continuous, purposeful care rather than isolated check-ins.

Anxiety, Stress & Social Phobia

We approach anxiety by carefully dismantling the avoidance that keeps it strong. Rather than just talking about worry, we design manageable, concrete steps to help you reclaim the activities and places you have been stepping around.

Mindfulness & Burnout Prevention

Burnout is more than exhaustion; it is a profound depletion of meaning. We examine the punishing internal standards driving your schedule and build sustainable boundaries that protect your time and energy.

Trauma, PTSD & Complex Trauma

Therapy for long-standing trauma prioritizes establishing safety first. We focus heavily on emotional regulation and reliable sleep before deliberately, and only with your full consent, addressing the underlying memories.

ADHD & Executive Functioning

Many adults mask their attention struggles until they are completely depleted. We work on building practical external systems for task initiation and time management, while also addressing the heavy self-criticism that often accompanies these challenges.

Sleep Problems

Restless nights are rarely solved in bed. We evaluate the entire cycle of your day—caffeine, activity, light, and the anxious mental loops that start at dusk—to rebuild a reliable foundation for sleep.

Addictions, Recovery & Codependency

Substance use often relies on unspoken family rules and ingrained interpersonal habits. Recovery work here targets relapse prevention alongside a close look at the codependent dynamics that unknowingly sustain the pattern.

How we work with Colorado clients

Meaningful therapy starts with a precise understanding of the problem. We spend our early meetings getting the formulation right, because a misdiagnosed issue leads to ineffective counseling. From there, we build a tailored roadmap that frequently integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). We are straightforward about the fact that we do not offer a quick fix; lasting change requires active participation and steady weekly meetings over several months. For those in Colorado, we also plan ahead for logistical disruptions. We establish clear backup protocols for bad weather or unstable internet connections, ensuring you always have coping strategies to practice even if a session needs to be adjusted.

Telehealth licensing in Colorado

Colorado is a participating jurisdiction in the interstate telepsychology compact. This agreement allows Dr. Lusk to provide care to clients located within the state using her Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology, granted by the PSYPACT® Commission. You can verify the current list of participating states directly on the commission's website.

The crucial factor for these sessions is your physical location, not your permanent address. You must be physically present inside Colorado (or another compact state) when we meet. If you are taking a ski trip out of state or traveling for work, please let the office know in advance so we can verify if your destination is covered and adjust our schedule if necessary.

Participating jurisdictions are published by the compact commissions and can change. You can review current psychology participation at psypact.gov, find the relevant psychology licensing board through the PSYPACT® board directory, or check counseling privileges at CompactConnect. If you are not sure which applies to you, call (844) 774-7997 and we will confirm before you schedule.

Colorado Communities We Serve Online

Our virtual waiting room welcomes people from Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Aurora, and Grand Junction, as well as high-country and southwestern communities where specialist care is hard to find locally. We are familiar with La Plata County, the Mancos Valley, and Cortez, meaning there is no need to commute from your home in Hesperus into Durango just to see your therapist. Your zip code matters far less than having a private room and a reliable connection.

Questions Coloradans ask about online therapy

Do you see university students and faculty?

Yes. Students frequently seek help for anxiety or significant mood shifts, while faculty and staff often bring concerns about burnout, career trajectory, or family stress. Many appreciate working with a professional who has absolutely no ties to their campus.

What happens if bad weather disrupts my internet?

We prepare for this. If a storm knocks out your connection, your clinician will call the phone number we have on file so the session can continue without losing the hour. Flexibility is built into how we practice.

How exactly does a virtual appointment work?

Before your session, our office provides a secure link. At the scheduled time, you click the link on your computer or tablet from a private space—using headphones if others are nearby—and the clinician joins you. The clinical work itself remains the same as an office visit.

Can you prescribe medication if I need it?

No, because Dr. Lusk is a clinical psychologist, not a medical doctor. If medication appears to be a helpful addition to your treatment, we will discuss it with you and, with your signed release, coordinate care with your physician or a local psychiatric provider.

Where can I find information about the cost?

Our rates are sent in a fee agreement when you schedule an appointment. Please call (844) 774-7997 or email info@psychotherapy.com. Our staff will answer any out-of-network insurance questions, and handle all the logistics so your clinician can focus entirely on your care.

Payment and insurance for Colorado telehealth

We accept all major credit and debit cards, and we gladly accept HSA, FSA, and HRA cards so you can use pre-tax dollars toward your care. Our practice generally operates out-of-network. This allows us to protect your privacy, keep care highly personalized, and avoid insurance-mandated session limits.

Our rates are sent in a fee agreement when you schedule an appointment. Please check with your insurance company regarding your out-of-network benefits. As a courtesy, we will submit claims on your behalf upon request, and any reimbursement will be sent directly to the insured. Call (844) 774-7997 or email info@psychotherapy.com if you have questions.

Our services are by appointment only, during normal business hours. Evening, weekend, and early morning appointments are sometimes available for established clients.
