As of September 20th, 2026 Alaska is now a participant in the PSYPACT® agreement, authorizing Dr. Lusk to deliver expert telepsychology to clients located throughout the state. For many Alaskans, the decision to choose online therapy comes down to time and terrain. When an in-person visit requires a flight, a long drive, or an overnight stay, finding the hours for a weekly appointment is nearly impossible. Telehealth removes that barrier entirely, bringing continuous, professional care to your kitchen table or home office.

Winter weather makes an even stronger case. A severe storm can shut down a highway for days, interrupting any treatment plan that relies on a commute. This format also provides uncommon stability for people whose work moves them seasonally across the state. A client who spends the summer working near Kenai and the winter in Fairbanks can keep the same clinician and the same treatment goals, provided they are physically inside Alaska when each session begins.

Online Therapy Services in Alaska

The following six areas represent the focus of most requests we receive from Alaska. Each is offered as an ongoing therapeutic relationship rather than a one-time consultation.

Depression & Mood Disorders

Long, dark winters and physical isolation can easily deepen a depressive period. We focus first on rebuilding daily routines and connection, and then on the internal narratives that make feeling low seem permanent.

Anxiety, Stress & Social Phobia

Treatment here involves designing a manageable, graded plan. You rehearse responses during the session and evaluate them the following week, turning therapy into active practice rather than mere reassurance.

Addictions, Recovery & Codependency

True recovery addresses both the substance use and the interpersonal patterns holding it in place. This includes the silent agreements and protective habits families form over the years.

Trauma, PTSD & Complex Trauma

Our early sessions prioritize emotional stability and restorative sleep. Only when you have reliable ways to lower physical arousal do we approach the trauma itself, moving strictly at a pace you control.

Sleep Problems

Disrupted rest requires examining the entire day. We look at light exposure, caffeine, evening routines, and the anxious mental loops that tend to start the moment you turn off the lamp.

Couples & Relationship Health

Partners attend sessions together to examine the patterns they fall into when under pressure. The goal is to uncover a shared understanding of the dynamic, rather than debating who is to blame.

How we work with clients in Alaska

Delivering remote psychological services is central to how this practice operates, connecting people with expert care they might otherwise struggle to access locally. When working with Alaskans, planning for logistical hiccups is woven into our approach from the start. If a winter storm disrupts your internet connection, we already have a protocol in place, including elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) you can practice on your own until the connection is restored. We deliberately avoid offering a quick fix; instead, this practical groundwork becomes a vital part of the therapeutic process. Treatment generally spans several months, building a strong framework for personal resilience even when distance and weather intervene.

Licensing and telehealth authorization in Alaska

Because Alaska participates in the interstate telepsychology agreement, a qualified psychologist may provide care to individuals located there without holding a separate, state-issued license. Dr. Lusk holds the necessary credential. The complete list of participating jurisdictions and the standards of practice are available at psypact.gov, and our staff is happy to explain how this works before you schedule an appointment.

The primary requirement is that authorization is tied to your physical location. You must be inside Alaska (or another covered jurisdiction) at the time of your appointment. If you live in Sitka but plan to spend a month traveling out of state, that needs to be discussed in advance so we can verify if your destination falls under the same agreement and adjust your schedule accordingly.

Participating jurisdictions are published by the compact commissions and can change. You can review current psychology participation at psypact.gov, find the relevant psychology licensing board through the PSYPACT® board directory, or check counseling privileges at CompactConnect. If you are not sure which applies to you, call (844) 774-7997 and we will confirm before you schedule.

Alaska Communities We Serve Online

While many of our appointments connect us with clients in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau, we frequently see people from Sitka, Ketchikan, Kenai, and communities too small to make a map. If you have a private room and a stable connection, geography no longer dictates your options.

Questions Alaskans ask about online therapy

I live a long way from any provider. Is video really equivalent?

For talk therapy, it is remarkably close to sitting in an office: you have the same clinician, the same session length, and the same treatment goals. If your specific circumstances genuinely require an in-person assessment, Dr. Lusk will inform you and help you determine how to find that care locally.

Is online therapy legal for someone in Alaska?

Yes. Alaska is a member of the interstate telepsychology agreement. Dr. Lusk practices under the credential established by that commission, meaning you do not need to fill out any special applications yourself. The commission publicly lists its standards and participating states.

What if the connection drops partway through a session?

This happens, and we are prepared for it. Our office keeps your telephone number on file; if the video feed fails, your clinician will call you so the session can continue without interruption. If your bandwidth is consistently low, let us know at intake so we can suggest ways to optimize the connection.

I work seasonally and move around the state. Can I keep the same therapist?

Absolutely, and this is a primary benefit of telehealth. Continuity of care relies only on your physical presence inside Alaska, not your specific zip code. Share your seasonal schedule with us, and we will find appointment times that accommodate your moves and shifting hours.

How do I get started from a small community?

A single phone call to (844) 774-7997 or an email to info@psychotherapy.com is all it takes. Our staff will discuss your needs, clearly outline fees, answer out-of-network questions, and find a time that works across the time zones. You are under no obligation to book until you are ready.

Payment and insurance for Alaska telehealth

We accept all major credit and debit cards, and we gladly accept HSA, FSA, and HRA cards so you can use pre-tax dollars toward your care. Our practice generally operates out-of-network. This allows us to protect your privacy, keep care highly personalized, and avoid insurance-mandated session limits.

Our rates are sent in a fee agreement when you schedule an appointment. Please check with your insurance company regarding your out-of-network benefits. As a courtesy, we will submit claims on your behalf upon request, and any reimbursement will be sent directly to the insured. Call (844) 774-7997 or email info@psychotherapy.com if you have questions.

Our services are by appointment only, during normal business hours. Evening, weekend, and early morning appointments are sometimes available for established clients.

Whether a particular service is appropriate for you is determined with a clinician during a confidential consultation.
